Work Teams
Improvements and repairs to facilities at Kokrine Hills Bible Camp are all done by volunteers who invest their time and money in this ministry.

Work Team Dates for 2008:

      Work Camp #1                     May 31 - June 7  
      Work Camp #2                     June 7- 14

Priority Work Projects for 2008

  1. Complete new dining hall (Samaritan's Purse teams)
  2. Construct covered play area approx 24x32 feet
  3. Build log cabin for winter caretaker/staff
  4. Insulate the floor of Porcupine Hall.
  5. Extend south side of basketball court 4 feet and build a pony wall for safety and ball retrieval.
  6. Resurface basketball court with a non-slip epoxy finish of some kind. Design & funding to be decided. (If you have expertise in this area, please contact us)
  7. Wash house – Anchorage Grace will refurbish/improve the wash house.
  8. Air strip. Big Lake crew and any other available work teams will work on airstrip. Included in this is logging on the north end of the strip.
  9. Firebreak – there is a cat trail all the way through. Usable firewood needs to be sorted and taken to lower slip and the rest of the material moved to the sides. 
  10. Fire suppression - configure & prepare wheeled water tank so it can be positioned centrally and be operationally ready to suppress fires within minutes.
  11. Construct swing set from 8" well casing.
  12. Get slide from Gordon Bowerman (Nenana) and set it up at KHBC.
  13. Move smoke house from island to site just upriver from camp.  First 2 weeks work teams project.
  14. Need new outhouse holes dug and outhouses moved on boys’ side.
  15. Need someone with expertise in engineering to design a new water slide in consultation with Brian Arnold
  16. Water system improvements: bury line from creek, install gravity feed system for after-electrical hours use.
  17. If we finish all these projects we'll go fishing     

    

                                   Worker Costs   

  • Round-trip transportation to Tanana. We will be using a MARC airplane to shuttle people June 7 & 14th. We estimate per passenger cost about $140 each way between Fairbanks & Tanana.
  • If you are coming as part of a week-long work team, KHBC suggests a donation of $180 for boat gas and food/lodging. 
  • For workers coming for less than a full week, the following suggested donation rates apply: 

                      $95 for boat transporation between Tanana & KHBC
                      $25 per day at KHBC for food/lodging

          (If you provide your own transportation to KHBC, you can just pay $25/day.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
All workers must have their own health insurance or sign the Work Application form saying you will be liable for your own treatment expenses. KHBC does not have insurance to cover workers.
